Suzi Wizowaty, a former legislator, reviews some do's and don'ts about talking with legislators--on the phone, in person, and testifying before legislative committees.
Suzi Wizowaty has worked as a bookseller, program librarian, newspaper writer, editor, and program director of Vermont Humanities Council. Meanwhile she taught writing around the edges in local colleges and had three novels published. For over 20 years she also led book discussion programs and writing workshops in the prisons, where she began to question why the men and women she was meeting were there.
Wanting to change the system led her to run for the Vermont Legislature where she served three terms in the House of Representatives, the last two on the Judiciary Committee. She stepped down in 2014 to run full-time the non-profit she had founded in 2013, Vermonters for Criminal Justice Reform.
