A reader's thoughts:
The Adam Walsh Act creates JOBS.Welcome to reality, all for not signing a form, or worse, not telling law enforcement where the registrant SLEEPS for a few hours of the day or night.
More police and Federal Marshall's to track registrants;
If a registrant violates SORNA, even forgetting to sign his name on a registration form, they are arrested.
Jail gets paid for housing registrant awaiting trial;
Court appoints lawyer for handling case, he must get paid;
Courts have their fees and court costs, which someone pays;
Court prosecutes the registrant (or acquits him/her on dumb charges) and sentences the registrant;
Registrant, maybe now an inmate, spends time in jail, prison, or on probation;
Registrant, or inmate, is required to take sex offender therapy, even if it was taken on his/her last trip through the system, Therapists must be paid;
Registrant, if sent to prison, has housing, medical, etc costs which prison must pay;
At the end of the registrant's sentence, comes the civil commitment hearing, which may commit him (Not hers) for the rest of his life. Civil commitment has astronomical costs;
ALL OF THIS AT TAX PAYERS EXPENSE. THAT RIGHT....TAXPAYERS PAY FOR IT ALL!!!!!!
ONE MORE, all of the lawsuits along the way, Ohio will testify to that.
There is a Cash Cow, in the form of former sex offenders through SORNA.

This isn't a cash cow, it's a black hole into which the government, in it's infinite wisdom, will shovel millions of dollars. Why, because they have decided that, like the Nazi's did the Jewish people, that we are to be exterminated. We are just garbage to be blamed for all the ills of this world, and then discarded.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think it would have been better if they'd have just put a bullet in me twenty-five years ago. Then, I'd have never seen the tragic fall of this nation into it's current Gestapo State.
You forgot the millions of dollars that will be spent by the state defending against the inevitable lawsuits. Since Ohio became compliant there have been more than 6,000 lawsuits filed.
