2-11-2011 South Carolina:
ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) – The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division will soon announce details of a new sex offender law that includes residency restrictions for registered sex offenders living in South Carolina.
These changes to the law will take effect on February 14, 2011.
On Thursday in Rock Hill three convicted sex offenders told their stories to an audience of more than 100 police, EMS, nurses, and social workers to help them get an idea of what went on in their minds when they violated the law.
"To promote education around offenders operate how they think so the community can work to help keep them safe," said Ben Motley.
Motley runs the class called inside criminal minds. In the daylong seminar the class learns about how sex offenders think, understanding treatment sex offenders go though after conviction, then learning from offenders themselves.
"At least in my opinion my victims were not aware of what I had done," said Panelist identified as Mr. Two.
The three men have served their time and have gone though treatment for their crimes, and are now trying to live a normal life. Now they're telling their stories to help officers like Sergeant Doug Little from the York Police Department.
"They look like you and I, and you'll be able to see what makes them tick and understand why they did what they did," said Little.
In June, there will be another seminar to discuss juvenile offenders. ..Source.. by Trent Faris
